Transmission, Installing

-- Make sure the alignment sleeves are installed in the engine flange.

-- Make sure the plate fits correctly between the engine and the transmission. The plate must contact the engine along the entire perimeter. If it is above the engine, then it is not hooked into the cylinder block correctly.

-- Make sure the torque converter is installed correctly. Refer to TORQUE CONVERTER .

Further installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Install the transmission mount free of tension. Refer to "Engine and Transmission Mount, Adjusting" in [For engine(s) CPRA,CPKA] Description and Operation[For engine(s) CBTA,CBUA] Description and Operation[For engine(s) CVCA] Description and Operation .

-- Replace all the bolts for the transmission mount/bracket.

-- Install all the new bolts hand tight first.

Tighten the transmission mount bracket to transmission bolts -1- to 40 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn when installing the transmission mount bracket -A-.

-- Align the engine/transmission in its installed position. Lift until the transmission mount bracket is touching the transmission mount completely.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the threads in the transmission mount bracket by inserting the bolts crooked.

  • Before installing the bolts -2-, the transmission mount bracket and transmission mount support arm must be absolutely parallel to each other. If necessary, lift the back of the transmission using the engine-/gearbox jack.

Adjust the "old fit" between both bolts using a screwdriver when tightening the transmission mount to transmission mount bracket bolts -2-. Tighten the two bolts to 60 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.

Tightening specifications. Refer to TRANSMISSION TO ENGINE TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Install the pendulum support. Refer to [For engine(s) CDVB,CPRA,CBTA,CPKA,CKRA,CBUA] Special Tools .

-- Attach the drive axles to the transmission. Refer to [For engine(s) CDVB,CPRA,CBTA,CPKA,CKRA,CBUA] Removal and Installation .

-- Install the right drive axle heat shield, if equipped. Refer to [For engine(s) CDVB,CPRA,CBTA,CPKA,CKRA,CBUA] Special Tools .

-- Align the exhaust system free of tension. Refer to [For engine(s) CBTA,CBUA] Removal and Installation[For engine(s) CVCA] Removal and Installation[For engine(s) CPRA,CPKA] Removal and Installation .

-- Install the starter. Refer to [For engine(s) CVCA,CDVB,CPRA,CBTA,CPKA,CKRA,CBUA] Removal and Installation .

2.5L Engine Only 

-- Attach the clamps for the power steering line to the transmission. Refer to [For engine(s) CDVB,CPRA,CBTA,CPKA,CKRA,CBUA] Description and Operation .

1.8L Engine Only 

-- Install the Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve -N112-. Refer to [For engine(s) CBTA,CBUA] Removal and Installation[For engine(s) CVCA] Removal and Installation[For engine(s) CPRA,CPKA] Removal and Installation .

Continuation for All 

-- Install the coolant hoses to the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) cooler according the marks made during the removal.

-- Attach the selector lever cable to the transmission and adjust it. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .

-- Install the battery tray and the battery. Refer to [For engine(s) CVCA,CDVB,CPRA,CBTA,CPKA,CKRA,CBUA] Removal and Installation .

-- Check the coolant level.

-- Check the ATF level. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING AND ADDING .

-- Install the left and right front wheel housing liners. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- Install the wheels. Refer to [For engine(s) CDVB,CPRA,CBTA,CPKA,CKRA,CBUA] Specifications .

-- Install the engine cover with air filter. Refer to [For engine(s) CPRA,CPKA] Removal and Installation[For engine(s) CBTA,CBUA] Removal and Installation .

-- Perform a basic setting. Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester and select "perform basic setting" under Guided Functions  .
