Bevel Box: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Grease the splines on the transmission differential with Lubricating Grease - G 000 100-.
- Slide on bevel box completely on the transmission, while doing this, join splines of input shaft/bevel box centrally with differential.
With proper tooth position and central guiding, bevel box slips up to stop against the transmission.
Install and tighten the bolts -arrows- for the bevel box on the upper part of the transmission.
Install and tighten the bolts -arrows- for the bevel box on the lower part of the transmission.
Attach the bevel box transmission support to the engine. Follow the tightening sequence when installing the bolts -arrow 1- and -arrow 2-.
The illustration of the bolt head can vary from the original.
Fill the bevel box with gear oil. Refer to GEAR OIL IN BEVEL BOX, FILLING .
Install the right drive axle. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
If equipped, install the right drive axle heat shield on the bevel box -arrows-.
If removed earlier, install the coolant hoses -1 and 2- for the auxiliary heater.
While doing this do not open the heating system. Refer to the appropriate Service Information
Fasten driveshaft with flexible disc to bevel box flange -arrows-.
- Pay attention to the threaded inserts (for example HeliCoil) inside the threaded holes in the pendulum support.
- How to recognize: there is a collar on the first thread -arrow-.
Attach the pendulum support to the transmission. Refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
Install the noise insulation under the engine/transmission assembly. Refer to NOISE INSULATION OVERVIEW .
