Transmission, Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following points.

-- Make sure the alignment sleeves are installed in the cylinder block.

Make sure the torque converter is installed correctly. It must turn easily by hand and the entire circumference must be equally deep inside the transmission.

Install the transmission mount free of tension. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- Make sure the bolts are in their old position when tightening the transmission mount bracket bolts to the transmission. Tightening specification, refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .

-- Replace the seals on the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) pipes.

-- Check the ATF level. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .

-- Check the coolant level and fill if necessary. For the filling procedure, refer to General Information .

-- Perform a basic setting. Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester then select "perform basic setting" in the Guided Functions  .

For additional tightening specifications, refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

Install in the reverse order of removal. However, important steps should be followed here: 

-- Make sure both alignment sleeves between the engine and the transmission fit correctly.

-- Position the transmission, possibly readjust the transmission mount/bracket.

-- Install only one engine/transmission bolt.

-- Install all the torque converter nuts and tighten them to specification. Refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Install the transmission mount bracket -2- to the transmission. Tightening specification, refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Lift the engine/transmission, install the transmission mount to transmission mount bracket bolts -1- and tighten them to specification. Refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Install the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX .

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .

Do not grease cable. 

-- Replace the seals on the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) pipes.

-- Check the ATF level. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .

-- Check the coolant level and fill if necessary. For the filling procedure, refer to [For transmission(s) 09M] General Information .

-- Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester and press the perform basic setting  button and perform a basic setting.
