Compass Magnetic Field Sensor -G197-: Notes

The compass system includes:

NOTE:

The Radio/RNS -RX1- does not have the compass magnetic field sensor.

The current direction, in which the vehicle is pointing, appears in the compass display. Eight different directions and up to two letters (N = north, NW = northwest) can be displayed.

NOTE:

Before troubleshooting or servicing, the technicians must be familiar with the function and operation of the compass system.

Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester for Servicing or Troubleshooting.

Check all vehicle equipment (clock, Convenience System, etc.) after connecting the battery. Refer to [For engine(s) CNNA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

Using an antenna that is attached to the rear lid by magnets or any remaining magnetization could cause the compass module to not work correctly. For complaints of inaccurate or faulty direction displays on the compass module, ask the customer whether a magnetically adhered antenna is being used before starting repair work.
