Engine, Installing

Engine and transmission mount tightening specifications. Refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

CAUTION:

When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

  • Route all lines and wires in their original locations.
  • Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

Procedure 

-- Insert new alignment sleeves for centering the engine and transmission in the cylinder block.

-- Engage the intermediate plate at the sealing flange and slide it onto the alignment sleeves -arrows-.

-- Grease the input shaft splines lightly with grease for clutch plate splines G 000 100.

-- Inspect and install the clutch and clutch mechanism. Refer to [For transmission(s) 02Q] Clutch .

-- Make sure there is enough clearance to the subframe and radiator when installing the engine and transmission subassembly.

-- Align the engine mount as follows:

-- Install the pendulum support.

NOTE:

Engine and transmission mount tightening specifications. Refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

Electrical connections and routing. Refer to Wiring

-- Install the right and left drive axles. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the exhaust pipe with catalytic converter. Refer to EXHAUST PIPE WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTERS .

-- Connect the refrigerant lines Description and Operation .

-- Install the driveshaft. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Install the shift mechanism and adjust if necessary. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM .

-- Reconnect the hose/line assembly to the clutch slave cylinder. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- Install the plenum chamber cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- Connect the battery and complete the required steps after connecting the battery. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] [For engine(s) CBTA, CJAA, CBUA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

-- Fill the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester

-- Check all Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memories and erase any faults.

-- Perform a road test.

-- Perform a vehicle system test and correct any faults.

NOTE:

If the DTC memory was erased, the readiness code must be generated again. Refer to "Guided Fault Finding" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.

  M7 15 Nm
  M8 25 Nm
  M10 40 Nm
  M12 60 Nm
