Transmission, Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, paying attention to the following:

-- Check the needle bearing -arrow- inside the crankshaft. If it is damaged or has blue tarnish, it must be replaced.

-- If it is not damaged, lubricate the bearings lightly with high temperature grease G 052 133 A2.

-- The pins and splines on the transmission must also be lightly lubricated.

-- Make sure both alignment sleeves between the engine and the transmission fit correctly.

-- Make sure the intermediate plate fits correctly.

Pay attention to the selector lever cable when lifting the transmission. Guide the cable into the cable bracket as early as possible. 

The cable is not lubricated. 

Guide the engine and transmission together by hand until the entire surface of both flanges come into contact with one another. 

-- Adjust the transmission mount until the engine and transmission are aligned.

-- Turn the crankshaft slightly if necessary.

Be careful not to get any wires caught when installing the transmission. 

-- Attach the transmission to the engine. Tightening specifications. Refer to TRANSMISSION TO ENGINE TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

Install the transmission mount and bracket as follows:

-- Replace all the bolts -1 and 2-.

-- Install the new bolts first hand tight.

-- Tighten the transmission mount bracket to transmission bolts -1- to 40 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.

-- Pry the transmission mount bracket into the correct seating using a screwdriver then tighten the bolts -2-.

Bolt -2- tightening specifications. Refer to [For engine(s) CCTA, CBFA] Special Tools .

-- Remove the engine support bridge 10-222 A from the engine.

-- Install the starter -A-. Refer to [For engine(s) CNNA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

Connect the connector -1- to the Mechatronic unit and turn it to lock it in place.

-- Connect the drive axles to the transmission. Refer to [For engine(s) CNNA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

-- Install the right drive axle heat shield, if equipped. Refer to [For engine(s) CNNA, CCTA, CBFA] Description and Operation .

-- Install the subframe and steering gear. Refer to [For engine(s) CNNA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

-- Install new selector lever cable lock washers -arrows-.

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .

-- Connect the coolant hoses to the transmission oil cooler.

-- Install the wire bracket to the transmission cover. Tightening specification. Refer to TRANSMISSION TO ENGINE TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Install the battery tray, the bolts -arrows- and the battery. Refer to [For engine(s) CNNA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to [For engine(s) CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

-- Install the engine cover. Refer to [For engine(s) CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

-- Check the coolant level and fill as necessary. Refer to [For engine(s) CCTA, CBFA] General Information .

-- Check the gear oil level and fill as necessary. Refer to TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL, CHECKING .

-- Install the left and right front wheel housing liners. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- Install the front wheels. Refer to [For engine(s) CNNA, CCTA, CBFA] Specifications .
