Overview - Control Module And Hydraulic Unit, Abs Mark 60 EC

CAUTION:

Do not confuse the brake lines when connecting them to the tandem master cylinder and the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-. Mark the lines in their installed position before removing them.

  1. ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-
  2. Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module -J104-
  3. Bolt
    • 2 Nm ± 0.8 Nm
    • Quantity: 4
    • Always replace if removed
  4. Brake Line
  5. Brake Line
    • 14 Nm
    • ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- for the master brake cylinder/primary piston circuit.
    • Identification: 6.5 mm diameter and tube fitting with a M12 x 1 thread
    • Brake Line, Connecting. Refer to BRAKE LINES, ATTACHING TO HYDRAULIC UNIT .

    • 14 Nm
    • ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- for the master brake cylinder/secondary piston circuit.
    • Identification: 6.5 mm diameter and tube fitting with a M12 x 1 thread
    • Brake Line, Connecting. Refer to BRAKE LINES, ATTACHING TO HYDRAULIC UNIT .
  8. Brake Line
    • 14 Nm
    • Brake master cylinder/primary piston circuit to the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-
    • Identification: 6.5 mm diameter and tube fitting with a M12 x 1 thread
    • Brake Line, Connecting. Refer to BRAKE LINES, ATTACHING TO HYDRAULIC UNIT .
  9. Brake Line
    • 14 Nm
    • Brake master cylinder/secondary piston circuit to the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-
    • Identification: 6.5 mm diameter and tube fitting with a M12 x 1 thread
    • Brake Line, Connecting. Refer to BRAKE LINES, ATTACHING TO HYDRAULIC UNIT .
  10. Brake Booster with Master Brake Cylinder
    • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - BRAKE BOOSTER/BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER .
    • The required vacuum is supplied either by the intake manifold or by a vacuum pump.
    • Functional check:

      -- Forcefully press brake pedal several times with engine switched off. This dissipates any vacuum present in the unit.

      -- Depress and hold brake pedal with average foot pressure and start engine. If brake booster is working properly, pedal will be felt to give noticeably under foot (booster assistance becomes effective).

    • Replace the complete brake booster if there are faults.
    • Vacuum System, Checking. Refer to VACUUM SYSTEM, CHECKING .
    • Brake booster, removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE BOOSTER .
    • Brake master cylinder, removing and installing. Refer to OVERVIEW - BRAKE BOOSTER/BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER .
  11. Brake Line
  12. Brake Line
    • 14 Nm
    • To the right rear brake caliper/brake cylinder
    • Identification: 5.25 mm diameter and tube fitting with a M10 x 1 thread
    • Brake Line, Connecting. Refer to BRAKE LINES, ATTACHING TO HYDRAULIC UNIT .
  13. Hex Fitting Bolt
    • 8 Nm
  14. Rubber buffer
    WARNING:

    When installing the mount, make sure the rubber insulation does not push out of the bracket. Make sure the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- is secure after installing it otherwise malfunctions can occur.

  15. Bracket
    • After installing, make sure it fits properly
  16. Bolt
    • 8 Nm
    • Quantity: 3
  17. Nut
    • 8 Nm
    • Quantity: 2
  18. Bracket
  19. Rubber Buffer
    WARNING:

    When installing the mount, make sure the rubber insulation does not push out of the bracket. Make sure the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- is secure after installing it otherwise malfunctions can occur.
