Automatic Glow Time Control Module -J179-

The pre-glow system is controlled by the Automatic Glow Time Control Module -J179-. The Automatic Glow Time Control Module -J179- is On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable.

If there is a malfunction in the preglow system, a fault will be stored in the engine control module.

Checking the preglow system is explained in "Guided Fault Finding".

Electronically controlled glow plugs with a separate glow plug control module was installed in order to reach a quick starting function.

Each glow plug is controlled and diagnosed individually.

Removal

-- Remove the E-box cover inside the engine compartment -arrows-.

-- Remove the Automatic Glow Time Control Module -J179- -arrow- from its location in the E-Box -1- in the engine compartment.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Component location: Refer to Wiring diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component locations.
