Passenger Air Bag Module: Installation

  1. Remove or position anything aside that may be blocking the accessibility to the passenger air bag alignment rails.

  3. Check passenger air bag alignment locators and J-nuts for damage, repair as needed.

  5. Install the passenger air bag module.
    1. Position the passenger air bag module alignment locators to the alignment rails of the instrument panel.
    2. Align the passenger air bag module deployment door tabs.

    NOTE: During air bag module installation, make sure all the deployment door tabs are fully seated into the instrument panel.
  7. When all tabs and locators are aligned, slide and engage the passenger air bag module into the instrument panel.

  9. Install the 2 passenger air bag module bolts.
    • Tighten bolts to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

  11. Connect the passenger air bag module electrical connector.
  12. Install the inner RH lower instrument panel reinforcement mounting bracket and the 6 bolts.
  13. Install the RH lower instrument panel reinforcement and the 4 bolts.
  14. Install the RH lower instrument trim panel.
  15. Repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering .
