Front A/C Receiver Drier: Installing
- Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR REFRIGERANT OIL CHARGE . Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.
- The A/C receiver/drier must be replaced if an internal failure of the A/C compressor has occurred. Failure to replace the A/C receiver/drier can cause serious A/C compressor damage.
When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the refrigerant oil capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR REFRIGERANT OIL CHARGE .
If only the A/C receiver/drier is being replaced, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. Use only the refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace the rubber O-ring seals and metal gaskets may result in a refrigerant system leak.
-- Position the A/C receiver/drier (4) into the engine compartment.
-- Install the bolt (3) that secures the A/C receiver/drier to the right front frame rail. Tighten the bolt to 9 Nm (80 in lbs).
-- Install the front and rear sections of the A/C liquid line (1 and 2) onto the A/C receiver/drier using new O-ring seals. Tighten the bolts to 13.5 Nm (120 in lbs). Refer to A/C REFRIGERANT LIQUID LINE, FRONT .
-- Install the air cleaner housing and inlet duct. Refer to AIR CLEANER HOUSING for CGVA engines, AIR CLEANER HOUSING for CGUA engines & Air Cleaner Housing for CJRA engines .
-- Connect the negative battery cable.
-- Evacuate the refrigerant system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM, EVACUATE .
-- If the A/C receiver/drier is being replaced, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the refrigerant oil capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR REFRIGERANT OIL CHARGE . Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
-- Charge the refrigerant system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM, CHARGING .
