Test Step 3 - Powertrain Control Module Internal Short

• Turn the ignition OFF.
• Disconnect the powertrain control module harness connector.
• Turn the ignition ON.
• With the scan tool, record and erase any TIPM DTCs.
• Cycle the ignition from ON to OFF 3 times.
• Turn the ignition ON.
• With the scan tool, read active TIPM DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes 

• Go to Test Step 4 Test Step 4 - Transmission Control Module Internal Short .

No 

• Inspect the wiring and connectors for damage or shorted circuits. If OK, replace and program the PCM. Refer to FOR ENGINE CJRA - REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONFOR ENGINE CGVA - REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONFOR ENGINE CGUA - REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
• Perform the Powertrain Verification Test. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST (2009 - 2011) or PCM VERIFICATION TEST (2012 & UP) .
