Selector Mechanism, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable, refer to Battery with Visual Indicator, Standard .

-- Remove the boot with the shifter knob and frame, refer to GEARSHIFT KNOB, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the center console cover .

-- Remove the nuts -arrows-.

-- Remove the air filter housing, refer to [For engine(s) CKRA] Air Filter Housing Overview or [For engine(s) CVCA] Air Filter Housing, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the battery and the battery tray if necessary, refer to Battery with Visual Indicator, Standard .

-- Remove the shift cable -2- lock washer -3- from the gearshift lever -1-.

-- Remove the shift cable -2- from the lug -arrow- from the gearshift lever -1-.

-- Pull the securing mechanism all the way forward in direction of -arrow 1- and then unlock to the left in direction of -arrow 2-.

-- Push the relay lever forward and guide the selector cable out of the cable retainer.

NOTE:

The cable retainer may be removed only when the relay lever is removed, refer to Figure.

-- Remove the cable mounting bracket from the transmission -arrows-.

-- Remove the noise insulation, refer to Noise Insulation .

-- Install the heat shield under the gearshift mechanism .

-- Remove the catalytic converter, refer to [For engine(s) CVCA] Emissions Control Module or [For engine(s) CPRA, CPKA] Emissions Control Overview .

-- Disconnect the exhaust system rear section, refer to [For engine(s) CKRA] Exhaust System, Emission Controls or [For engine(s) CVCA] Exhaust System, Emission Controls or [For engine(s) CPRA, CPKA] Exhaust System .

-- Remove the heat shield under the shift mechanism.

-- Pivot shift housing downward and remove with cables.
