Selector Mechanism, Removing And Installing: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- Align the shift housing so that is it parallel to the body.
- The distance on both sides to the body must be equal.
-- Tighten the nuts on the gearshift housing -arrows-, refer to -item 16.
-- Route the cables -1- from the gearshift mechanism -2- to the transmission as follows:
- The cables must run parallel to each other and must not cross each other.
- The cables must be routed inside the depression in the heat shield -3-.
The heat shield from above is shown in the magnified view.
A clip -A- holds the cables and heat shield to each other in place.
-- Attach the cable mounting bracket to the transmission and tighten the bolts and nuts -arrows- to the tightening specification -item 19- and -item 8-.
These holes have different diameters.
Allocation of Cable Retainers, Refer to Figure
-- Apply a small amount of Grease on the pin -arrow- on the gearshift lever -1-.
- Grease allocation.
-- Secure the shift cable -2- to the gearshift lever with a new lock washer -3-.
-- Install the selector cable into the cable retainer on the relay lever.
-- Adjust the gearshift mechanism, refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
-- Install the center console cover, refer to Center Console .
-- Install the boot, the gearshift knob and the frame, refer to GEARSHIFT KNOB, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Attach the heat shield under the shift mechanism.
-- If removed, install the left and right underbody trim panel, refer to Underbody Panel .
-- Install the tunnel brace, refer to Underbody Panel .
-- Install the noise insulation .
-- Install the entire air filter housing, refer to [For engine(s) CKRA] Air Filter Housing Overview or [For engine(s) CVCA] Air Filter Housing, Removing and Installing .
-- Install the battery tray and the battery if they were removed earlier, refer to Battery with Visual Indicator, Standard .
-- Connect the battery and follow the procedure regarding what to do after connecting a battery, refer to Battery with Visual Indicator, Standard .
