Overview - Operating Cables: Notes

NOTE:

Lubricate the bearing areas and the sliding surfaces. Grease allocation.

  1. Gearshift Cable
  2. Selector Cable
  3. Selector Housing
  4. Lock Washer
    • Replace after removing
    • Be careful not to damage the cables when removing them
  5. Cable Mounting Bracket
    • Plastic
  6. Grommet
    • cable mounting bracket to transmission
  7. Spacer
  8. Nut
    • 20 Nm
    • for the cable bracket
  9. Cable Retainer
    • For attaching the selector cable to the relay lever
    • Adjust the gearshift mechanism after installing, refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Do not interchange, cable locking mechanisms for selector cable on linkage lever and for shift cable on transmission shift lever are different
    • Allocation, refer to Fig 2.
    • Remove from the relay lever Figure
    • Press onto the relay lever, refer to Figure
  10. Relay Lever
    • Plastic
    • Installed position, refer to Fig 5.
    • Remove and install together with the cable retainer -item  9-
    • To install, lubricate, refer to Figure
    • Adjust the gearshift mechanism after installing, refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • On the gearshift cover, disconnecting and reconnecting, refer to Figure
  11. Sliding Shoe
  12. Gearshift Shaft with Gearshift Cover
    • (Shift unit)
  13. Clip
    • For the relay lever
  14. Gearshift Lever
    • With a balance weight
    • Insert so that master spline aligns with shift rod, refer to Fig 3
    • To install, lubricate, refer to Fig 4
    • Adjust the gearshift mechanism after installing, refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Installed position, refer to Fig 5.
  15. Nut
    • 25 Nm
    • Replace after removing
    • Self-locking
  16. Lock Washer
    • Removing, refer to Fig 7.
    • Replacing
  17. Cable Retainer
    • For attaching the shift cable to the transmission shift lever
    • Adjust the gearshift mechanism after installing, refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Do not interchange, cable locking mechanisms for selector cable on linkage lever and for shift cable on transmission shift lever are different, refer to Fig 2.
  18. Lock Washer
    • Be careful not to damage the cables when removing them
    • Replace after removing
  19. Hex Bolt
    • 20 Nm
    • Quantity: 2
    • For the cable bracket

These holes have different diameters.

Cable Retainer For: Dimension "a"
-1- Shift cable to gearshift lever 8.5 mm
-2- Selector cable to relay lever 10 mm

-- When positioning the transmission shift lever, make sure the tooth gap -arrow A- is placed over the missing selector shaft teeth -arrow B-.

NOTE:

  1. Gearshift Lever with Balance Weight
  2. Clip
  3. The relay lever fits into the sliding rail on the transmission selector lever via the sliding shoe -arrow-.

-- Pull the safety mechanism all the way forward in direction of -arrow 1- and lock it in direction of -arrow 2-.

-- Remove the cable -B- from the cable retainer -A-.
