O-Rings, Seals and Gaskets

Always replace the O-rings, seals and gaskets.
After removing the seals, check the sealing surfaces on the housing or shaft for burrs resulting from removal or damage.
Coat O-rings with transmission fluid before installing to prevent crushing the rings during installation.
Use Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) only. Other types of lubricants cause faults to occur in the transmission hydraulics.
To install, thinly coat the seal along the outer circumference and on the sealing lip -arrow- with ATF.

The open side on the seal faces the oil.
Check the ATF level. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING AND ADDING .
