Open Injector, Checking

WARNING:
  • Follow the guidelines for a clean working environment when working on the fuel system. Refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
  • Always follow these rules before and during work.

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Make an -Adapter- for the return line.

-- Erase the fault stored in the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory using the Vehicle Diagnosis Tester.

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER .

-- Clean all connections, for example with commercially available detergent, before removing.

NOTE:

Maintain clean working conditions. Contamination must not enter the fuel system.

Check one cylinder after another.

-- Dry all cleaned components.

Begin with cylinder 1.

-- Push both brackets -1 and 2- down and at the same time pull the release upwards -arrow- and remove the return line connection from the fuel injector.

-- Connect the clean Adapter that has been cleaned out using compressed air, to the already inspected injector.

-- A vacuum pressure of -500 mbar is applied using the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213.

If the injectors are OK, then the pressure will remain above for 30 seconds.

If the injectors fail, then the pressure will drop to within two-to-three seconds again to 0 bar.

Repeat, if necessary, and pay special attention to the loss in pressure in the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213.

-- Replace any faulty injectors. Refer to FUEL INJECTORS -N30-, -N31-, -N32- AND -N33- .
