Short Description

To check the selector lever cable for ease of movement, disconnect it from the transmission and position the disconnected end so it does not make contact anywhere.

The selector lever moves and the selector lever cable will be attached again.

After that, the selector lever cable must be adjusted. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .

Do not grease the selector lever cable connection!

-- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.

-- Remove the engine cover with air filter. Refer to [For engine(s) CPRA,CPKA] Removal and Installation[For engine(s) CBTA,CBUA] Removal and Installation .

-- Loosen the adjustment bolt -2- on the selector lever cable -1-.

-- Pry the selector lever cable -1- off the selector shaft lever -3- using a wrench -2-.

CAUTION:

The retainers on the selector lever cable break very easily. The complete selector mechanism with selector lever cable must be replaced if one of the tabs breaks off.

-- Squeeze the retainers in direction of -arrows- together carefully and remove the selector lever cable from the cable bracket.

-- Move the selector lever from "P" to "S" and back to "P" several times.

-- Install the selector lever cable again.

-- Adjust the selector lever cable!

-- Install the engine cover with air filter. Refer to [For engine(s) CPRA,CPKA] Removal and Installation[For engine(s) CBTA,CBUA] Removal and Installation .
