Ignition System Component Overview

NOTE:
The engine speed sensor -G28- is on the cylinder block. See -item 14- in CYLINDER BLOCK .
- Knock Sensor 1 -G61-
- It is necessary to remove the thermostat first in order to remove the sensor. Refer to COOLANT THERMOSTAT HOUSING WITH THERMOSTAT .
- Contacts are gold plated.
- Knock Sensor 2 -G66-
- It is necessary to remove the oil filter bracket first in order to remove knock sensor. Refer to OIL FILTER ADAPTER .
- Contacts are gold plated.
- Ignition Coil with Power Output Stage -(N70, N127, N291, N292)-
- Removing and installing, refer to IGNITION COILS WITH POWER OUTPUT STAGES .
- Spark Plug
- Tightening specification, refer to TEST DATA AND SPARK PLUGS .
- If the spark plug is replace, grease the ignition coil with power output stage. Refer to Installing .
- Type and electrode gap, refer to TEST DATA AND SPARK PLUGS .
- Remove and install using the spark plug removal tool 3122 B.

- 20 Nm
- Tightening specification affects the function of the knock sensor.

- 10 Nm
- Camshaft Position Sensor -G40-
- Contacts are gold plated.
