Towing Recognition Control Module -J345-
The Towing Recognition Control Module -J345- is located behind the left side trim panel in the luggage compartment.

General Description:
Use the Power Outlet TesterV.A.G 1537/A or Trailer Socket TesterVAS 5800 to test the control module.
The Towing Recognition Control Module -J345- detects the "use of a trailer" from a performance decrease of at least 5 W (refer to :At least the turn signal or parking lamp must be switched on to detect "use of trailer".) and sends this information to diverse control modules via CAN data bus.
The Towing Recognition Control Module -J345- is supplied with information (light control) from the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519- and Comfort System Central Control Module J393 via the CAN data bus.
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Recognition and Display:
The Towing Recognition Control Module -J345- is equipped with On Board Diagnostics (OBD) which assists troubleshooting.
The "Guided Fault Finding" function is to be used for troubleshooting of one of the systems described as in "Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System", refer to VEHICLE DIAGNOSIS, TESTING AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS .
