Reading The Transmission Code Letters
The transmission code letters are on the transmission in at least in two different locations.
On the transmission near the selector lever cable -arrows-.
If it is not legible or if it is upside down, then it is also possible to read the transmission code letters under the transmission mount bracket.
To read the transmission code letters under the bracket directly from the transmission, the engine and transmission must be supported and the transmission mount bracket -A- must be removed. Lower the engine/transmission just enough until it is possible to slide the bracket toward the rear. Do not lower any further otherwise the pendulum support will get damaged. After being assembled, the selector lever cable must be adjusted. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
Removing the Transmission Mount Bracket
-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to [For engine(s) CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
-- Remove the battery, the battery tray bolts -arrows- and tray.
Install the engine support bridge 10-222 A and support the engine/transmission. Do not lift up yet.
-- Remove the transmission mount bracket to transmission bolts -1- and the transmission mount to transmission mount bracket bolts -2- from the transmission mount bracket -A-.
The bolts must be replaced.
-- Then, lower the engine/transmission slightly using the engine support bridge 10-222 A spindle until the transmission mount bracket can be removed.
In most cases, 2 turns on the spindle are enough to remove the bracket -arrow-.
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
-- Follow all instructions.
-- Replace all the bolts from the transmission mount bracket.
-- Install all the new bolt hand tight at first.
-- Install the transmission mount bracket -A- using the bolts -1 and 2-. Refer to TRANSMISSION TO ENGINE TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .
-- After installing the bracket, always adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
