Engine, Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following: 

CAUTION:

Note the following whenever working inside the engine compartment due to limited space:

  • Route all lines and wires in their original locations.
  • Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

-- Make sure there is enough clearance to the subframe and radiator when installing the engine/transmission.

-- Align the engine mount as follows:

-- Tighten the engine mount to engine mount bracket bolts. Tightening specification, refer to ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MOUNT OVERVIEW .

-- Install the pendulum support.

-- Install the front exhaust pipe and catalytic converters to the exhaust manifolds.

-- Install the drive axles, refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the right drive axle heat shield.

-- Install the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor, refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the fan shroud.

-- Connect the fuel supply line -1- and vent line -2-.

-- Install the ribbed belt, refer to RIBBED BELT .

-- Install the noise insulation, refer to Description and Operation .

-- Fill the coolant, refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester.

-- Check all Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memories and erase any faults.

-- Perform a road test and generate a readiness code, refer to "Guided Functions" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.

-- Perform another vehicle system test and correct any faults.

NOTE:

Generate a readiness code if the DTC memory was erased, refer to "Guided Function" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.

Bolted Connections Tightening Specification
Bolts and nuts M6 10 Nm
  M7 15 Nm
  M8 25 Nm
  M10 40 Nm
  M12 60 Nm
NOTE:

For the engine and transmission mount bolt tightening specifications, refer to ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MOUNT OVERVIEW .
