Engine And Transmission, Separating And Connecting: Separating

-- Clamp off the coolant hoses using the Hose Clamps Up To 25 Mm Dia.3094 and disconnect the hoses from the transmission fluid cooler.

-- Seal off the transmission fluid cooler connections with plugs from the Engine Bung Set VAS6122.

-- Remove the starter -A-, refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the lower bolt first.

-- Turn the lock on the Mechatronic connector -1- counterclockwise and disconnect the connector.

-- Loosen all the upper engine to transmission bolts. Insert Tool 18 Mm T10179 can be used for this.

NOTE:

The illustration shows the engine and transmission installed.

There is a bolt -arrow- inside the opening for the starter. Use Socket, Multi Point Bit XZN 14T10061 to remove this bolt.

-- Support the transmission with the Shop Crane - Load Cap = 700-1220 KG VAS6100 before removing the last bolts.

-- Remove the lower engine to transmission bolts.

-- Separate the transmission from the engine, when doing this, guide the transmission.

-- Remove the remaining engine to transmission bolts.
