Shift Cable And Selector Cable Overview: Notes
NOTE:
Lubricate the bearing areas and the sliding surfaces. Use the correct grease.
- Gear Shift Shaft with Shift Cover
- Sliding Shoe
- Relay Lever
- Made of plastic.
- Installed position, refer to Fig 4.
- Remove and install together with the cable retainer -item 4- .
- To install, lubricate, refer to Fig 6.
- Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
- On the gear shift cover, removing and installing, refer to Fig 7.
- Cable Retainer
- For attaching the selector cable to the relay lever.
- Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
- Do not interchange, the cable locking mechanisms for the selector cable to the relay lever and for the shift cable to the transmission shift lever are different.
- Removing from the selector cable, refer to Fig 5.
- Allocation, refer to Figure.
- Removing from the relay lever, refer to Figure.
- Pressing onto the relay lever, refer to Figure.
- Transmission Shift Lever
- Insert so that the master spline aligns with the shift rod, refer to Fig 2.
- To install, lubricate, refer to Fig 3.
- Installed position, refer to Fig 4.
- Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
- Nut
- 23 Nm
- Always replace after removing.
- Self locking.
- Cable Retainer
- For attaching the shift cable to the transmission shift lever.
- Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
- Do not interchange, the cable locking mechanisms for the selector cable to the relay lever and for the shift cable to the transmission shift lever are different.
- Allocation, refer to Figure.
- Removing from the shift cable, refer to Fig 5.

- Selector Cable
- Attach to the cable retainer -item 4- .
- Installed position, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM INSTALLED POSITION .
- Attach to the shift cable with a cable tie, refer to Figure.
- Removing and installing, refer to SHIFT CABLE AND SELECTOR CABLE .
- Shift Housing
- Circlip
- Always replace after removing.
- Be careful not to damage the cable when removing it.
- Shift Cable
- Attach to the cable retainer -item 7- .
- Installed position, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM INSTALLED POSITION .
- Attach to the selector cable with a cable tie, refer to Figure.
- Removing and installing, refer to SHIFT CABLE AND SELECTOR CABLE .
- Cable Bracket
- Made of plastic.
- Bolt
- 20 Nm
- Quantity: 3
- For attaching the cable bracket -14- to the transmission.
- Grommet
- For the cable bracket -14- to the transmission.
- Spacer
- Clip
- For the relay lever -3- .
-- When positioning the transmission shift lever, make sure the gap -arrow A- is placed over the missing selector shaft teeth -arrow B- .
- Lubricate the transmission shift lever guide rail -B- , into which the relay lever engage, especially carefully.
- Use the correct grease allocation.
NOTE:
The illustration of the transmission shift lever may differ from the original part.
1 - Transmission shift lever
2 - The relay lever fits into the guide rail on the transmission shift lever via the sliding shoe -arrow- .
-- Pull the locking mechanism all the way forward in the -direction of arrow 1- and lock it in the -direction of arrow 2- .
-- Remove the cable -B- from the cable retainer -A- .
- Lubricate the shaft -A- on the relay lever carefully -arrows- with 0.2 g of grease.
- Use the correct grease allocation.
