Shift Cable And Selector Cable Overview: Notes

NOTE:

Lubricate the bearing areas and the sliding surfaces. Use the correct grease.

  1. Gear Shift Shaft with Shift Cover
  2. Sliding Shoe
  3. Relay Lever
    • Made of plastic.
    • Installed position, refer to Fig 4.
    • Remove and install together with the cable retainer -item 4- .
    • To install, lubricate, refer to Fig 6.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • On the gear shift cover, removing and installing, refer to Fig 7.
  4. Cable Retainer
    • For attaching the selector cable to the relay lever.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Do not interchange, the cable locking mechanisms for the selector cable to the relay lever and for the shift cable to the transmission shift lever are different.
    • Removing from the selector cable, refer to Fig 5.
    • Allocation, refer to Figure.
    • Removing from the relay lever, refer to Figure.
    • Pressing onto the relay lever, refer to Figure.
  5. Transmission Shift Lever
    • Insert so that the master spline aligns with the shift rod, refer to Fig 2.
    • To install, lubricate, refer to Fig 3.
    • Installed position, refer to Fig 4.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
  6. Nut
    • 23 Nm
    • Always replace after removing.
    • Self locking.
  7. Cable Retainer
    • For attaching the shift cable to the transmission shift lever.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Do not interchange, the cable locking mechanisms for the selector cable to the relay lever and for the shift cable to the transmission shift lever are different.
    • Allocation, refer to Figure.
    • Removing from the shift cable, refer to Fig 5.
  8. Circlip
    • Always replace after removing.
  9. Circlip
    • Always replace after removing.
    • Be careful not to damage the cable when removing it.

    • Always replace after removing.
    • Be careful not to damage the cable when removing it.
  13. Shift Cable
  14. Cable Bracket
    • Made of plastic.
  15. Bolt
    • 20 Nm
    • Quantity: 3
    • For attaching the cable bracket -14- to the transmission.
  16. Grommet
    • For the cable bracket -14- to the transmission.
  17. Spacer
  18. Clip
    • For the relay lever -3- .

-- When positioning the transmission shift lever, make sure the gap -arrow A- is placed over the missing selector shaft teeth -arrow B- .

1 - Transmission shift lever

2 - The relay lever fits into the guide rail on the transmission shift lever via the sliding shoe -arrow- .

-- Pull the locking mechanism all the way forward in the -direction of arrow 1- and lock it in the -direction of arrow 2- .

-- Remove the cable -B- from the cable retainer -A- .
