Integrated Control Unit: Installing

-- Position the ICU (1) into the mounting bracket (3) in the vehicle. Install the mounting nuts (2) and tighten to 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.).

CAUTION:

Before installing the ABM harness connector on the ABM, be sure the seal is properly installed in the connector.

-- Insert the ABM wiring harness connector (2) into the socket of the ABM (1) and close the cover, locking the connector in place.

CAUTION:

The brake tubes must be routed to the correct ports. Improper routing can lead to degraded or undesirable system performance including external brake fluid leaks.

-- Install the four chassis brake tubes (3, 4, 5, 6) brake tubes at the ICU hydraulic control unit. Tighten the tube nuts to 14 Nm (120 in. lbs.).

-- Install the primary (1) and secondary (2) brake tubes at the ICU hydraulic control unit. Tighten the tube nuts to 14 Nm (120 in. lbs.).

-- Remove brake pedal holding tool.

-- Connect negative battery cable to battery post.

-- Hook up the scan tool to initialize the ABM and perform the following:

-- Clear any faults.

-- Fill the master cylinder to the proper fill level and bleed the base and ABS hydraulic systems. Refer to BASE BRAKE BLEEDING .

-- Check for leaks.

-- Perform the ABS Verification Test and road test the vehicle. Refer to ABS Verification Test .
