Transmission Fluid Level, Checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) V.A.G 1331

For the correct transmission fluid,

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- Remove the plug -arrow-.

The level is correct when the transmission fluid comes up to the bottom edge of the hole.

-- Install the plug -arrow- with a new seal and then tighten it to 45 Nm.

Note the following when filling for the first time: 

-- Remove the plug -arrow-.

-- Add transmission fluid until it reaches the lower edge of the hole.

-- Install the plug -arrow- with a new seal and then tighten it to 45 Nm.

-- If equipped, install the noise insulation to the transmission.

-- Install the noise insulation below the engine/transmission. Refer to Description and Operation .
