Shift Mechanism, Adjusting: Notes
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Connecting Pin T10027 A
The following points are essential to guarantee correct shift mechanism adjustment:
The shift mechanism operating and transfer elements must work properly.
The shift mechanism must move freely.
The transmission, clutch and clutch mechanism must also be in proper condition.
- Transmission is in neutral.
-- Remove the air filter housing if the locking pin -A- and the securing mechanisms for the cables are not accessible. Refer to Removal and Installation .
-- Pull the securing mechanisms on the cable retainers for the shift and selector cables all the way forward in the -direction of arrow 1- and then lock it to the left in the -direction of arrow 2-.
Hold the gear shift unit secure as follows:
-- Pull the gear shift unit up in the -direction of arrow 1-.
-- While pulling up the gear shift unit, push the locking pin -A- in the -direction of arrow 2- and at the same time push it in the -direction of arrow 3- upward until it engages in the selector shaft.
-- Remove the shift knob, boot and, if equipped, the noise insulation. Refer to SHIFT KNOB, BOOT AND NOISE INSULATION .
Hold the shift lever secure as follows:
-- Move the shift lever into neutral.
-- Install the connecting pin T10027 A through hole -A- and into hole -B-.
-- Turn the securing mechanisms on the shift and selector cable retainers all the way to the right in the -direction of arrow 1-.
The spring will push the securing mechanism into the starting position in the -direction of arrow 2-.
-- Move the locking pin -A- back into its original position in the -direction of arrow 1- and the -direction of arrow 2-.
The locking pin -A- must be pushed out of the gear shift unit all the way, in the -direction of arrow 1- and point forward, -arrow 2-.
-- Pull the connecting pin T10027 A out of the holes -A and B-.
-- Install the shift knob, boot and, if necessary, the noise insulation. Refer to SHIFT KNOB, BOOT AND NOISE INSULATION .
-- Check the shift lever for ease of movement.
-- Install the air filter housing, if it was removed earlier. Refer to Removal and Installation .
