Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Lincoln MKZ and 2010 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) electrical connector.
  3. Using the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket, remove the CMS  .
    • Calculate the correct torque wrench setting for the following torque. Refer to Torque Wrench Adapter Formulas in illustration.

    • To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
    NOTE: If necessary, lubricate the sensor threads with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal.

  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    NOTE: Apply a light coat of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the CMS  .
