SERVICE INFORMATION
If you replace the automatic transmission or TCM, or if you overwrite the TCM software (flashed), be sure to initialize the learned values and Basic Settings.
Tip:
DO NOT reset basic settings unless the transmission or TCM has been replaced, the TCM has been reprogrammed (flashed), or unless directed by the technician helpline or QTM.
When resetting basic setting, the following procedure must be followed:
- Warm-up
Bring the ATF temperature up to operating temperature. Check the ATF temperature using the VAS 5051/5052 , and make sure it is between 66°C (150°F) and 110°C (230°F). If the oil temperature is outside this range, work to bring it inside the range.
NOTE: DO NOT raise the oil temperature by stalling the engine with the torque converter.Tip:
If the oil temperature is not between 66°C (150°F) and 110°C (230°F), initial learning cannot be performed.
Before learning, check for harsh shift, both when moving the shifter between reverse and drive (garage shift shock), and when shifting on road (shift shock).
- Perform Basic Settings
Using Guided Functions.
- Garage Shift Learning
With the vehicle standing still, depress the brake and keep the shift lever in N for 3 seconds. Shift from N into D, and maintain this condition for 3 seconds. Repeat this learn procedure 5 times. Repeat the learn procedure 5 times in the same way between N and R.
- Gear Shift Control Learning
In D, with the throttle opening between 25 and 30%, drive vehicle until you reach 6th gear and a vehicle speed at 80km/h (50 mph) or higher. Release the accelerator pedal and coast, bringing the vehicle to a stop in 60 seconds minimum. Repeat this procedure until garage shift shock and shift shock have decreased compared to conditions before learning. This may take up to 10 times.
