Transmission Mount And Bracket: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removal 

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE, REMOVING .

-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the battery and the battery tray. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the air filter housing with the Mass Airflow Sensor -G70- and connecting pipe. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING .

-- Support the engine mount in the installed position. Refer to ENGINE, SUPPORTING IN INSTALLED POSITION .

-- Free up the wires at the cable guide.

-- Unclip the wiring guide -1- upward and move it slightly to the side -arrows-.

-- Pretension the engine/transmission sub-assembly using the spindles, but do not lift it.

-- Remove the transmission mount bolts -arrows-.

NOTE:

Ignore -1- and -3-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the transmission mount bracket -2-.

Installing 

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

NOTE:

Replace the bolts were tightened with an additional turn.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging threads in transmission support by inserting bolts crooked.

  • The transmission support and the transmission mount support arm must be absolutely parallel to each other before installing bolts. Push the transmission up using a floor jack if necessary.
CAUTION:

When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

  • Route all lines in their original locations.
  • To prevent damage to the lines, make sure there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

-- Adjust the subframe mount. Refer to SUBFRAME MOUNTS, ADJUSTING .
