Selector Mechanism Assembly Overview

WARNING:

Move the selector lever into "P" and set the parking brake before working with the engine running.

  1. Selector Lever Handle
  2. Clamp
    • Replace after removing
    • For fastening the handle on the selector lever
    • Attach using Hose Clamp Pliers V.A.G 1275
  3. Selector Mechanism with Selector Lever Cable
    • With integrated Selector Lever -E313- with Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module -J587-, Tiptronic Switch -F189-, Selector Lever Park Position Lock Switch -F319- and Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-
    • With Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-
    • Removing and installing. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM .
    • Check the selector mechanism. Refer to GEARSHIFT MECHANISM, CHECKING 
    • Selector lever cable can only be replaced with the selector mechanism.
    • Do not grease the selector lever cable.
    • Selector Lever Cable, Checking and Adjusting, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING 
  4. Bolt
    • 8 Nm
  5. Nut with Collar
    • Quantity: 4
    • Torque: 8 Nm 
  6. Selector Housing
    • Available only together with the selector mechanism.
  7. Bolt
    • For attaching the cable bracket to the transmission
    • Quantity: 2
    • Replace after removing
    • 20 Nm +90°
  8. Cable Mounting Bracket
    • For selector lever cable
  9. Lock Washer
    • Replace after removing
  10. Lock Washer
    • Replace after removing
    • Installed location: the offset side faces forward, toward the front of the vehicle.
      NOTE:

      The lock washer fits very tightly on the cable bracket. If necessary, remove the cable bracket and selector lever cable from the transmission. Refer to: SELECTOR MECHANISM .
