Removing An Undamaged Window

Perform the following: 

-- Remove left and right upper C-pillar trim, refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the rear shelf, refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the headliner near the rear window, refer to Removal and Installation .

NOTE:

If windshield is to be used again, make sure that electrical connections for windshield heating are not damaged.

-- Disconnect connections for heated rear window and window antennas.

-- Pull the cutting wire -2- inside through adhesive using with the Flush Bonded Window Kit - Awl VAG1474/2 -1-.

-- Secure the cutting wire end with the Bonded Window Tool Kit - Pull Handle VAG1351/1 prior to removal.

-- Lay the cutting wire around the rear window and guide the second cord end toward the inside.

-- Secure the end of the cutting wire on the Window Reel Device VAG1654A.

-- Install the Flush Bonded Window Kit - COVER FOR AUDI 80/92> Dash Panel VAG1474/8 -1- carefully between the rear window and headliner.

-- Position the Window Reel Device VAG1654A as shown in the figure.

-- Move Window Reel Device VAG1654A according to position required and cut the rear window free.

-- While cutting free, press cutting cord against window using plastic Flush Bonded Window Kit - Wedge (5 pc.) VAG1474/5 in order to have clearance from window flange.

-- To remove the rear window -1- open the rear lid -2- approximately 45°.

-- Remove the rear window -1- from the body flange -arrow a- and move it under the rear lid -arrow b-.
