Engine And Transmission, Separating: Separating

-- Clamp off the coolant hoses at the transmission oil cooler using the hose clamps up to 25 mm dia. 3094 and remove the hoses from the transmission oil cooler.

-- Seal the transmission oil cooler connections with plugs from engine bung set VAS 6122.

-- Remove the starter -A-. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the lower bolt first.

-- Turn the lock on the Mechatronic unit connector -1- counterclockwise and disconnect the connector.

-- Loosen all the upper engine/transmission bolts. Insert tool 18 mm T10179 can be used for this.

NOTE:

The illustration shows the engine and transmission installed.

There is a bolt -arrow- located inside the hole for the starter. Use the socket, multipoint bit XZN 14T10061 to remove this bolt.

-- Support the transmission with the shop crane - load cap = 700-1200 KGVAS 6100 before removing the last bolts.

-- Remove the lower engine/transmission bolts.

-- Separate the transmission from the engine; when doing this, guide the transmission.

-- Remove the remaining engine/transmission bolts.
