Transmission Oil Level, Checking And Filling

Use DSG R oil as a replacement part.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Requirements:

Checking

-- Connect the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051 B- and identify the vehicle using Guided Functions  .

-- Select DSG transmission  .

-- Select Check Fluid Level  .

NOTE:

Let the transmission cool down if the oil temperature is higher than 45 °C (113 °F).

The engine is idling and the selector lever is in the "P" position.

-- Remove the drain plug.

Up to transmission production date "September 20, 2004", transmissions with two plugs were installed.

It is important to not switch the plugs. Remove the plug -A- near the pendulum support only.

NOTE:

Even if the transmission fluid level is too low, at first a small amount of transmission fluid will flow out of the overflow tube, because it fills during operation.

-- Let the excess oil drain.

-- Install the drain plug with a new seal as soon as all the oil has drained out (it starts to drip).

-- If no transmission oil comes out, then fill.

Adding

-- Measure the length of the pipe (dimension -a-) before installing the adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262 A- onto the oil bottle, shorten the pipe if necessary. Refer to MODIFYING THE ADAPTER FOR OIL FILLING VAS 6262 A .

-a- = 210 mm

NOTE:

Dimension -a- is measured starting from the shaft (green surface) on the adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262 A-.

-- Install the adapter from the adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262 A- into the plug hole hand tight.

Shake the bottle before opening.

-- Fill with 1.0 liter of oil.

-- Connect the adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262 A- to the quick release coupling on the adapter.

If oil flows out of the adapter hole:

The oil must not be topped off.

-- Let the excess oil drain.

-- As soon as the oil has run out (it begins to drip), remove the adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262 A- and install the plug with a new seal.

If no oil flows out of the hole:

-- Add another liter of oil.

WARNING:

Too little or too much oil will impair the transmission.
