Safety Precautions
To reduce the risk of personal injury and/or damage to the fuel injection and ignition system, always observe the following:
- The ignition must be turned off before connecting or disconnecting injection and ignition system wiring or tester cables.
- Do not touch or remove ignition wires when engine is running or turning at starter speed.
If special testing equipment is required during road test, note the following:
- Test and measuring instruments must be secured to rear seat and operated by a second person from this location.
If the vehicle is involved in a collision while testing and measuring equipment is operated from the front passenger seat, the person sitting in that seat could be seriously injured when the airbag deploys.
- If the engine is to be cranked at starting RPM without starting:
-- Remove the ignition coil wiring harness cover strip.
-- Disconnect the connectors from ignition coils 1 through 6 using the assembly tool T10118.
-- Place the assembly tool T10118 on the locking button -arrow- and carefully pull the connector up.
-- Remove the fuel pump fuse from the fuse holder.
