Towing Recognition Control Module -J345-

General Information 

The towing recognition control module -J345- recognizes "trailer mode" when there is a power decrease of at least 5W and transmits this information to various control modules via the CAN data bus.

The vehicle electrical system control module -J519- and the comfort system central control module -J393- supply the towing recognition control module -J345- with information via the CAN data bus.

  1. At least turn signals or side marker lamps must be switched on to detect trailer mode.

The Towing recognition control module detects from a performance decrease of at least 5 W the use of trailer and sends this information to diverse control modules via CAN-Bus. See item:  1.

The Towing Recognition Control Module is supplied with information (light control) from the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519- and Comfort System Central Control Module J393 via the CAN databus.

  1. At least the turn signal or parking lamp must be switched on to detect "use of trailer".

DTC Recognition and Display 

Towing recognition control module is equipped with On Board Diagnostics (OBD) which assists troubleshooting.

For troubleshooting, use Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in operating mode "Guided Fault Finding".
