Engine, Installing

-- Position the engine and transmission assembly under the vehicle. Slowly lower the vehicle down over the engine and transmission. It is necessary to move the engine/transmission assembly with the scissor lift table VAS6131 for clearance around body flanges.

-- Align the powertrain mounts to the attaching points. Install the mounting bolts at the right powertrain mount (3).

-- Align the powertrain mounts to the attaching points. Install the left powertrain mount (4).

-- Remove the safety straps from around the engine.

-- Slowly raise the vehicle enough to remove the scissor lift table VAS6131.

-- Remove the scissor lift table VAS6131 fixture.

-- Lower the vehicle.

-- Install the power steering pump and pressure line support.

-- Install the generator and wiring harness. Refer to Generator (CGUA Engine) .

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Attach the wiring harness support clip to the engine oil dipstick tube.

-- Connect the electrical connector to the oil pressure switch.

-- Install the A/C compressor.

-- Install the water pump pulley.

-- Install the lower radiator hose.

-- Install the accessory drive belt and splash shield. Refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT .

-- Connect the electrical connector to the engine block heater, if equipped.

-- Connect the electrical connector to the knock sensor.

-- Install the torque converter to flex plate bolts.

-- Install the transaxle case cover.

-- Install the powertrain struts and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

-- Install the rear powertrain mount bracket.

-- Install the front powertrain mount and bracket assembly.

-- Install the drive axles. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Connect the exhaust pipe to manifold.

-- Install the crossmember cradle plate.

-- Lower the vehicle.

-- Connect the transaxle shift linkage.

-- Connect the electrical connectors to the transaxle.

-- Remove the plugs from transmission cooler hoses and install the transaxle oil cooler line service splice kit. Refer to instructions included with kit.

-- Install the transaxle dipstick tube and attach electrical harness clip.

-- Connect the A/C lines to the compressor.

-- Connect the electrical connector to the A/C compressor.

-- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to General Information .

-- Connect the electrical connectors to the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors.

-- Connect the electrical connectors to the fuel injectors and engage the clip to support bracket.

-- Connect the following electrical connectors:

-- Position the ground cable to the rear of the cylinder head and install the bolt.

-- Install the power steering reservoir. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the wire harness clip to right powertrain mount.

-- Connect the brake booster and speed control vacuum hoses.

-- Connect the vacuum hoses to the throttle body.

-- Connect the electrical connector to the EGR transducer, if equipped.

-- Connect the following electrical connectors:

-- Connect the throttle cables to throttle body.

-- Install the radiator fans. Refer to COOLING FAN SHROUD .

-- Install the upper radiator hose.

-- Connect the heater hoses. Remove the pinch-off pliers from the rear heater hoses, if equipped.

-- Install the radiator crossmember. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the wiper module. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Connect the fuel line to fuel rail. Refer to FUEL RAIL .

-- Install the air cleaner and hoses. Refer to AIR CLEANER HOUSING .

-- Install a new oil filter. Fill the engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. Refer to the appropriate FLUID CAPACITY TABLES information .

-- Connect the negative battery cable (3).

-- Fill the cooling system. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Start the engine and run until the normal operating temperature is reached.

-- Adjust the transmission linkage, if necessary. Refer to General Information .
