Update Programming, Power Sliding Door Module - Overly Sensitive Obstruction Detection

Some customers may experience the power sliding door intermittently not fully closing when activated with either the key fob or switches located in the vehicle. The power sliding door will begin the closing process, but then reverse at nearly the closing point, without any obvious obstruction.

NOTE: Manual operation of the power sliding door(s) is not affected.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

If the door operation slows or speeds up past a threshold during the power close sequence, the system may misinterpret this as an obstruction and reverse the doors direction to open. The detection threshold may be overly sensitive.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

New software will provide additional enhancements to address inadvertent reversals.

SERVICE

DIAGNOSIS

Using a StarMobile® with ElsaWeb and the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures, verify all door systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's are present, record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before  proceeding with this bulletin. If the customer describes the Symptom/Condition, or it can be reproduced, perform the Repair Procedure.

POWER SLIDING DOOR MECHANICAL CHECK

NOTE: The door must move smoothly before proceeding with the Programming Update.

Before performing the Programming Repair, check to ensure the door moves smoothly on its tracks, the strikers are in line, **lower hinge tensioner is in place and tight** and no obstructions exist like an out of place weather strip or mis-routed (tight) wire harness which could cause the sliding door to slow during the closing process.

  • Follow the procedures found in ElsaWeb to make door adjustments as required.
NOTE: The door must be aligned properly - check door fit, flushness, and that gaps are parallel to adjacent panels.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

NOTE: If this programming process is interrupted/aborted, the programming update should be restarted.
  • Reprogram the Power Sliding Door Modules (both sides) using the StarMobile® with the latest software.
  • After reprogramming, the following must be performed:

  • Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming.
