Selector Mechanism, Checking
The starter must not be able to be operated in the following selector lever positions: "R", "D" or "S".
If the "N" selector lever position is selected at speeds greater than 5 km/h, the selector lever lock solenoid must not engage and block the selector lever. Selector lever can be shifted into driving gear.
For speeds below 5 km/h (almost a stand still) and shifting into selector lever position "N", the shift lock solenoid must only engage after approximately 1 second. Selector lever can only be shifted out of position "N" with the brake pedal pressed.
Selector Lever in "P" Position and Ignition Switched On
- The brake pedal is not pressed.
Selector lever is locked and cannot be moved out of the "P" position with the button pressed the shift lock solenoid blocks the selector lever.
- The brake pedal is pressed.
Shift lock solenoid releases the selector lever. Selecting a driving mode is possible. Move the selector lever from "P" to "S" and slowly shift through. Check whether the selector lever position in the instrument cluster matches that of the selector lever.
Selector Lever in "N" Position and Ignition Switched On
- The brake pedal is not pressed.
Selector lever is locked and cannot be shifted out of the "N" position with the button pressed the shift lock solenoid blocks the selector lever.
- The brake pedal is pressed.
Shift lock solenoid releases the selector lever. Selecting a driving mode is possible.
Selector Lever in Tiptronic Position
- Shift selector lever into tiptronic gate.
Brightening of the "D" symbol must go out in the selector mechanism cover and the "+" and "-" symbols must light up.
The selector lever display in the instrument panel insert must change from "P R N D S" to "6 5 4 3 2 1" when the selector lever is shifted to the tiptronic gate.
Ignition and Light Switched On
The appropriate symbol is being lit up in the shift mechanism cover.
Transmission Range Display
Simultaneous lighting of all segments of the transmission range selector lever display indicates transmission is in emergency running mode.
