Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) V.A.G 1331
The selector lever cable must always be adjusted if:
- The selector lever cable was removed from the transmission.
- The engine and/or transmission were removed and installed.
- Parts of engine/transmission mounts were removed and installed.
- The cable itself or the selector mechanism was removed and installed.
- The engine/transmission positions change, for example, were installed free of tension.
Adjusting
-- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.
Loosen the adjustment bolt -2-.
-- Move the selector shaft lever -3- into the "P" position (push the lever to the rear).
WARNING:
Make sure the parking lock is latched.
-- From underneath the vehicle, rotate both front wheels in the same direction and at the same time until the parking lock audibly engages.
- The parking lock is engaged when it is not possible to rotate both front wheels in the same direction at the same time.
-- Lightly tap button in the handle forward and backward and make sure to keep the handle in the "P" position.
This locates the cable core in its optimal position.
-- Tighten the adjustment bolt -2- to 15 Nm.
This ends the adjustment.
