Steering Angle Sensor, Cannot be Adapted 

Steering angle sensor cannot be adapted after the steering wheel electronics module -J527- has been replaced.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

The -J527- was packaged incorrectly even though the packaging matches the number stamped on the module. The part number in question is 1K0 953 549 BK. 

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

Not applicable.

SERVICE

To verify the correct part has been received, the part number that is stamped on the case must be compared to part number recovered with the scan tool.

If a fault log has been printed since the part was installed:

• Compare part number under "Steering Column Electronics"  to component part number

If a fault log has not been printed since -J527- replacement, perform the following:

• Select "Vehicle Self Diagnosis" 
• Select "On Board Diagnostics (OBD)" 
• Select "16 - Steering Wheel Electronics" 
• Review part number in upper right hand of screen to verify the index is Not  "AM". If "AM" is shown, replace the -J527-.
