Cruise Control Inoperative 

Cruise control system at times cannot be activated using SET/RES button. The following entry is logged in steering wheel electronics -J527- fault memory:

18106 Read error memory of steering column electronics
18104 Data bus drive

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Software error in steering column electronics control module -J527-.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

Software was improved with value 1 as the final digit.

SERVICE

NOTE: 5051/5052 must be updated to 12.86.00 or greater.

New Jetta test plan is currently not available at this time. To perform procedure, enter 2007 GTI/Rabbit as vehicle criteria.

Test plan will run only if the fault codes defined above are stored in the -J527-.

To verify this technical bulletin applies, observe last digit of software level.

PROCEDURE

  • Select "Operating Mode -> Guided Functions -> Steering Wheel Electronics -> Adaptation cruise control system debounce counter".

When completed, confirm codes are erased. If codes remain, further diagnosis will need to be performed.
