SERVICE INFORMATION
All Vehicles with Electronic Stability Program Brake System - G85 Basic Settings
If a main component of the ESP brake system is replaced, the basic settings must be performed on the G85 steering angle sensor. All vehicles have a guided function for the basic settings.
If for any reason the basic settings test fails, be sure to check the readings of the G85 in either MVB 4 or 5 under Brake Electronics. Readings should be at 0 when in the straight ahead position and change to positive degrees when turned left and to negative degrees when turned right. If for some reason this is not occurring, check the installation of the G85. Keep in mind that on newer vehicles such as A5 and B6 bodies, the G85 is a separate component mounted behind the spiral spring.
