SERVICE INFORMATION
2006-2007 Jetta / GTI / EOS with 2.0L TFSI Engine and DSG Transmission - Fault Code U0302 Software Incompatibility with TCM
If, after replacing the Electronic Control Module (ECM), a shifting concern develops, check the ECM's long coding before diagnosing the wiring or replacing parts. If Byte 04 reads "18", the ECM is coded for a manual transmission and is not reading the Transmission Control Module (TCM) information.
Perform the following:
- Enter Vehicle Self Diagnosis / On Board Diagnosis
- Select AW 01 Engine
- Select coding (Service 1A)
- Check the Hexadecimal value in Byte 04. It should read "1C".
If the value is anything other than 1C, use the following steps to change Byte 04:
- Highlight Byte 04
- Hit the Hex button on the right side of the screen
- Use the keypad and input "1C" and select Q
- Hit the right arrow key to perform coding, a message will pop up "definitely perform coding?"
- Hit the right arrow key again to accept the new long coding
- Confirm Byte 04 now reads "1C"
- Recheck communication and clear out fault codes
NOTE:
This procedure can be used for other models. For GTI, Jetta, and Passat with manual transmission use Hex Byte "18". For Passat 2.0 TSFI with 09G transmission use Byte "19".
