Output Diagnostic Test Mode (From June 2001)

The components displayed in the Output Diagnostic Test Mode can differ depending upon equipment fitted to the vehicle. For example on with without Anti-theft Alarm, there will be no step "1" as listed in the list below. The Output Diagnostic Test Mode activates the components in the stated sequence. See OUTPUT DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE (FROM JUNE 2001) table.

Connect VAG 1551/1552 scan tool, or equivalent aftermarket scan tool. See Figure .
Initiating On Board Diagnostic. See INITIATING ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) under RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES.
Operate scan tool taking into account the information on the display.
Input 03 for "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function.
Switch off ignition and remove ignition key from ignition lock.
Confirm entry with the "Q" button.
Perform Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) by pressing button for individual tests. See OUTPUT DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE .
NOTE: Output Diagnostic Test Mode can be terminated by pressing the "C" button.
Press right arrow button.
NOTE: If a component does not function, continue Output Diagnostic Test Mode to the end.

⁽¹⁾	When performing Output Diagnostic Test Mode "Signal close sliding roof," the ignition and S-terminal must be inactive (no key in ignition/starter switch) and one of the front doors must be open.
