Reading Off Transmission Code Letters
The transmission code letters are on the transmission in at least two different locations.
On the transmission near the selector lever cable -two arrows-.
If these cannot be read or are on the head, the transmission code letters can also be read under the left transmission mount bracket.
In order to read off the code letters under the bracket directly from transmission, the engine with transmission must be supported. The left transmission mount bracket -A- must be removed. When doing this, it is important to lower the engine/transmission only far enough until the bracket can be slid toward the rear. If lowered further, the pendulum support could be damaged. After being assembled, the selector lever cable must be adjusted. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTING, THROUGH 02.2009 .
A detailed description on how to remove the bracket is not needed here. Refer to "Transmission, Removing; Transmission, Installing".
Short Description
Remove the air filter housing and battery.
Install the engine support bridge -10-222 A- and support the engine/transmission. Do not lift up.
-- Remove all the bolts -1 and 2- for the bracket -A-.
-- Then lower the engine/transmission slightly using engine support bridge -10-222 A- spindles until the bracket can be removed.
In most cases, 2 turns on the spindles is enough to remove the bracket -arrow-.
-- After installing the bracket, always adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTING, THROUGH 02.2009 .
