Ignition System Assembly Overview

NOTE:
The engine speed sensor is located on the cylinder block. Refer to Engine Speed Sensor -G28- .
- Ignition Coil with Power Output Stage -N70, N127, N291, N292, N323, N324-
- Removing and installing, refer to IGNITION COIL WITH POWER OUTPUT STAGE .
- Connector
- Black
- Use the assembly toolT10118 to disconnect.
- Bracket
- For the knock sensor 1 connector.
- Bolt
- 20 Nm
- Connector
- Black, 3 pin
- Contacts are gold plated.
- Knock Sensor 1 -G61-
- Installed location: Exhaust side of the cylinder block.
- Bolt
- 20 Nm
- Tightening specification affects the function of the knock sensor.
- Exhaust Camshaft Adjuster
- Identification: 32A
- With the sensor wheel for the Camshaft Position Sensor 2 -G163-.
- Removing and installing, refer to CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER .
- Cover
- Connector
- Black, 3 pin
- Contacts are gold plated.
- Mark the connector before disconnecting.
- Bolt
- 10 Nm
- Camshaft Position Sensor 2 -G163-
- For the exhaust camshaft
- Contacts are gold plated.
- Seal
- Always replace.
- Camshaft Position Sensor -G40-
- For the intake camshaft.
- Contacts are gold plated.
- Knock Sensor 2 -G66-
- Installed location: Intake side of the cylinder block.
- Contacts are gold plated.
- Connector
- Black, 2 pin
- Contacts are gold plated.
- Intake Camshaft Adjuster
- Identification: 24E
- With the sensor wheel for the Camshaft Position Sensor -G40-.
- Removing and installing, refer to CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER .
- Spark Plug
- 18 Nm
- Remove and install using the spark plug removal tool3122 B.
- Type and electrode gap, refer to TECHNICAL DATA AND SPARK PLUGS .
- Control Housing
- For the camshaft adjustment.
