Remember that the E221 steering wheel module is NOT the Steering Column Electronics module (J527) that is located below the steering wheel. The E221 is located either under the airbag on the A5 body style, or is part of the multi function switches of the steering wheel for B6 Passat. The E221 Steering Wheel Module sends a LIN Bus message to the J527 Steering Column Electronics and can be checked by reading MVB 09 in address word 16.
