Front Information Display Control Head Control Module, removing and installing: Removing
Before starting repair work, perform the following:
- Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.
- In order to avoid damage to wood surfaces when removing and installing, cover area of center console around selector lever with suitable cloth.
- Open ashtrays and unclip trim outward in direction of - arrow -.
- Close ashtrays.
- Create narrow slots on both sides at marked position indicated with - arrow - using plastic wedge T10039/1.
- Insert special hook 3370 into slot.
- Slide special hook 3370 to marked positions indicated by - arrows - and disengage locking mechanisms of trim in sequence by carefully pulling on hook.
- Carefully remove trim piece.

- Carefully pull out A/C system temperature sensor using suitable pliers.
- Remove cover in foot well on front passengers side → 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT .
- Loosen cable tie - in magnified area F, position 3 -.
- Loosen cable tie - in magnified area E, position 2 -.
- Remove 5 mounting bolts - arrows -.
- Remove cover in foot well on front passengers side → 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT .
- Loosen cable tie - in magnified area F, position 3 -.
- Loosen cable tie - in magnified area E, position 2 -.
- Carefully pull Information Display Control Head Control Module - A - with harness connectors connected forward out of center console - B -.
- While doing this, slide wiring set - C - from beneath glove compartment continuously toward rear behind the control module so that wire connections and fiber-optic cables do not become kinked.
- Pull out bracket with ashtray units from beneath control module and set aside with wires still connected.
- Unclip bracket for wire connections - arrows -.
- Unlock and disconnect harness connectors.
- Remove the Front Information Display Control Head Control Module.
NOTE:
- Fiber-optic cable for fiber-optic ring bus cannot be repaired if faulty. It must be completely replaced. Replacing fiber-optic cable → Fiber-optic cable, replacing .
