Fiber-optic cable, replacing: Notes
Fiber-optic cable in Phaeton carries data from Navigation System with CD Drive Control Module to Front Information Display Control Head Control Module and Rear Information Display Control Head. Fiber-optic cable between individual devices is connected as a circuit.
This means that data input and data output for light signals occur at each device.
In every vehicle there is always only one fiber-optic cable, regardless of version.
Two versions of fiber-optic cable are available:
- A short fiber-optic cable for data exchange between Navigation System with CD Drive Control Module and Front Information Display Control Head Control Module.
- A long fiber-optic cable for data exchange between Navigation System with CD Drive Control Module , Front Information Display Control Head Control Module and Rear Information Display Control Head.
Before repairing, check whether information display control module is only installed in center console, or also in rear on center tunnel. Select relevant repair procedure.
Any excess length of fiber-optic cable must be gathered together at suitable point and laid in without kinking.
Existing fiber-optic cable remains in vehicle when fiber-optic cable is replaced.
