Cooling System Overview, Engine Side

NOTE:

Coolant hose connection diagram. Refer to COOLANT HOSE CONNECTION DIAGRAM .

  1. To the Upper Expansion Tank Fitting
  2. Rear Coolant Pipe
  3. Nut
    • 20 Nm
  4. From the Heater Core
  5. To the Heater Core
  6. Coolant Line
  7. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  8. From the Transmission Oil Cooler
  9. Coolant Pipe, Side, Top
  10. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  11. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor -G62-
    • If necessary release the pressure in the cooling system before removing.
  12. O-ring
    • Always replace
  13. Retaining Clip
    • Check clip for secure seating.
  14. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  15. To the Radiator Upper Fitting
  16. From the Auxiliary Cooler
  17. To the Auxiliary Cooler
  18. From the Radiator Lower Fitting
  19. Non-Return Valve
    • Note the installed position.
    • Arrow on the check valve points in the direction of flow.
  20. Coolant Pipe, Side, Bottom
  21. Bolt
    • 25 Nm
  22. To the Transmission Oil Cooler
  23. Recirculation Pump -V55-
    • Attached to the accessory bracket, 8 Nm
    • To remove, remove the accessory bracket. Refer to ACCESSORY BRACKET .
    • Component location of the recirculation pump. Refer to Fig 2.
  24. Bolt
    • 8 Nm
  25. Coolant Thermostat
    • Starts to open at 80°C (176°F).
    • Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT THERMOSTAT .
  26. Coolant Thermostat Housing
  27. Seal
    • Always replace
  28. Bolt
    • 8 Nm
  29. Pulley
    • For the coolant pump.
    • Removing and installing COOLANT PUMP .
  30. Bolt
    • 20 Nm
  31. Coolant Pump
    • Check for ease of movement.
    • Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT PUMP .
  32. Gasket
    • Always replace
  33. Connecting Piece
  34. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  35. From the Lower Expansion Tank Fitting

Recirculation Pump Location

The recirculation pump -arrow- is bolted to the accessory bracket.

-- Remove the accessory bracket from the cylinder block.

Accessory Bracket Bolt Tightening Sequence: 

-- First, tighten the alignment bolts -2 and 4- by hand.

-- Then, tighten the bolts -1, 3 and 5- by hand.

-- Then, tighten all the bolts uniformly and in a diagonal sequence to specification: 23 Nm
